The 4 divisional cups being straight forward knockout matches . The Frank Murphy Trophy being a handicap knockout tournament, with players from lower divisions liable to meet players from the higher divisions, depending on the draw. Once again, thanks go out to the Club Secretaries who volunteered the use of their club premises to stage the various Finals, Doug Baker, CADWA, Jim Geddes, BOOTLE YMCA, Tom Purcell, MERSEYSIDE POLICE, Ken Armson MBE, Wavertree Labour, and to those who also provided the after match refreshments, in the case of the Frank Murphy Trophy Final, once again these refreshments were provided by Frank's widow Marjorie, helped by Myra Lovelady, Sue & Dave Berry. Also thanks to members of the Management Committee who carried out the functions of Match Official to see that each Final ran smoothly. A sad fact is that unless players have an active part in the Finals, the cup finals just don't attract spectators, a shame really as they usually produce some outstanding table tennis.
